I've got a PC here of the "D" brand, it's about 3 years old. When i "cold" boot it (1st time in the day) it does the BIOS checks and everything, then just before it's going to load up windows it turns itself off.

The second time i start it up, it works fine. Also when i shut it down, then start it up again, there are no problems.

So - only the 1st time in the day (when it's cold) it gives me this problem.

Any ideas what this may be? Should i order a new PC or can this be fixed?

I wounder how much your get at auction for a malfunctioning computer?

I would guess that the problem you describe is to do with the ram, but you could try updating your bios first, might fix it

Sounds stupid, but have u tried using a different hdd with windows on. If you do have another hdd you can try out use a new ide cable and boot with just the hdd connected.

Here's what I tried so far (without success) :

1. Checkdisk thorough
2. Updated BIOS Firmware
3. RAM test (ubcd)
4. Formatted and Re-installed windows

any more suggestions? Could it be the CMOS battery being on low power? Any other ideas?
