PC doesn't start after exiting BIOS screen - any ideas?

A couple of days ago I noticed that my computer had stopped restarting properly - after Windows has finished shutting down, it just sits there with a black screen.

I performed a couple of system restores with no change, and thought I'd check the power settings on the BIOS.

However, the same thing happens after leaving the BIOS screen - just a black screen (usually the PC restarts or, if I make BIOS setting changes, briefly powers down before restarting).

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R.

I'm struggling to find a solution on Google (all the problems I'm reading about seem to be the operating system not shutting down correctly), and I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas.

Many thanks, etmh

Look in your motherboard manual for the 'Clear CMOS' button, locate and press it using a blunt object (screwdriver should be fine) with the PC powered off, but switched on from the mains.

Much appreciated, I will try clearing/resetting the BIOS this evening and post the results. Someone at work has also suggested that I try disconnecting all my USB devices, which I will also try.
