PC fault

what is this fault when the screen freezes up, and makes a very loud fast ``machine gun like noise``.....it's deep and very loud...

i have to turn the pc off to get rid of it. ...it did it once yesterday ( Fallout 3) and once the day before in FEAR MP online

i've not noticed stutter first.....yea but i'm wondering if it's the card too..i've removed the overclock 4 days ago
