Hi,

A friend of mine is wanting to buy a new pc and wants to use it for Games and 3D modelling, I am a bit out of touch with all the new CPU's etc so thought I would ask you knowledgble lot :)

So it has to be able to play the latest games well, give good performance when doing 3D computer modelling and be within his £800 budget. Now he wants to buy a complete pc but I am also interested in what you can get if you just buy components as well. So if you could spec maybe one of OCUK's complete pc as well as a nice setup of just components I'd really appreciate it thanks.

Can you expand on 3d Modelling.

A 3 year old laptop will run Unigraphics NX fine.......but if you open up a huge assembly (like I do at work) then you need a quad core (or dual cpu rig) and 6gb of ram.

Well I know he will be doing stuff for games if that helps but i can ask him on monday exactly what he does for his 3D modelling.

oLysmoLy I can let you know about u AutoCAD tomorrow mate as i have win 7 6bit and need to install AutoCAD and 3ds max on it.

do u guys have anyidea whether autoCAD is compatible with windows 7 64 bit???

If it is AutoCAD 2010 you should be able to install the 64-bit version no problems

Issue
You want to know if you can run AutoCAD® or AutoCAD LT® on Microsoft Windows 7.

Solution
Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of AutoCAD® 2010 and AutoCAD® LT® 2010 are compatible with and supported on Microsoft Windows® 7.

Right had a chat with my friend and it will just be normal modelling, no really high poly count models. So what spec would you suggest as I know nothing about the new i5s or i3s??
