Hi, I'm looking to start music production very soon, but need some advice/help choosing a pc. From what I've read basic requirements are:
  • Minimum 16GB Ram
  • i7 Core
  • Minimum 500 GB HDD or preferably SSD
I've also read a few things about getting a CPU with good single core performance.

I saw this PC, and I was wondering if anyone could give there opinion on it, or if anyone could post links to good PC's they could reccomend to me?

Thanks

Desktop PC Computer, Intel 12 Core i7-12700 12th Gen, 3.60Ghz (4.90Ghz) Boost, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Intel Integrated Graphics, Windows 11 Pro, Black

Best to list the specs and the price, because you can only link to ocuk on here.

Which applications are you using? Any other uses for the PC?

Well considering this forum is run and owned by a pc store (overclockers.co.uk) we can only suggest their options.

Budget is pretty important before any suggestions but I'd be looking at passive systems if I'm honest....

You're also breaking the forum rules by linking to a competitor.

I’ve been an Ableton Live user now for about 15 years(ish), FL studio and Reason prior to that so can offer some decent advice here.

Music software utilises multi core cpu very efficiently now so don’t worry about single core performance too much. Current gen Ryzen and Intel are both highly capable and will do a great job. What I would recommend is lots of storage for accessing samples. If you can’t afford an SSD with a very high IOPS rating then grab a fast mechanical but storage will be eaten up very quickly with current software and sample library’s.
Probably most importantly; get good studio monitors, acoustic treatment and/or headphones. Beyerdynamic DT 9900 250ohm are what I use and translate to other systems brilliantly.

Don’t worry about a graphics card but DO ensure your system has iGPU built into the CPU for display.
