I have been using my cpu at stock speed for a while to save heat,
went to put it back to 4.4ghz + yesterday and I found that it was glitching somehow, it said target boost speed 4400 in bios but it was showing it was running at 3406 or something and in windows it was sometimes sitting at 800mhz during full load. I flicked some switches on my motherboard
as that was the only possible solution, they seemed to already be set correctly though, but it mysteriously started working correctly after that and still is.

However, today the computer is losing track of the time, it seems to lose about 2 hours every 4 or 5 and I have to keep using 'update with server'

Also I have another problem that has been there for monthes, windows explorer often crashes when I run a full screen app like a game and then alt tab, the desktop will be a black screen or something, I click on the taskbar a few times and see a little swirl and i says ' explorer has stopped working' so I restart it and it works fine, this happens maybe 20 times a day

Any ideas ? the system is around 2 years old, using windows 7.

will that clear my bios settings or have some unwanted effects ? ive not touched one of those before, is it easy to buy replacement battery ?

The scan thing seems to have fixed the problem with explorer.exe crashing as far as I can tell so thats good, its still losing time though so I guess I will need to inspect the battery, havent got around to it yet though, its quite a heavy computer and I relocated it only just yesterday, thanks for help though guys
