Hi,
I have built a new PC and am experiencing lockups (screen output freezes) where i am forced to restart the PC.
This issue does not produce a BSOD or any trace in the event log. It can happen after 5 hours or after 10 minutes.
The best way for me to replicate it is to play games (Skyrim) which seems to bring it on reliably. This led me to believe that it was an issue with my graphics card which I have replaced with my older one but it still occurs.
I have ensured that its not an overheating issue by removing both side panels and monitoring the heat of the system and CPU/GPU when it occurs and the temperature never gets above 50 degrees.
I am not overclocking any component on the system everything is running as default.
Here are some of the solutions i have tried;
Here is a breakdown of my system;
Does anyone have any suggestions I could try or what the believe is likely to be the problem.
Thanks.

Here are some of the solutions i have tried;
- Removed all non essential components
- Stress tested the CPU with Prime 95 (15mins) without replicating the issue
- Memory tested the RAM with the memtest86 for 5hrs with not a single error detected.
- Re-installed the OS with a complete format of the drive.
- Updated all of the drivers including the BIOS.
- Swapping the RAM about removing one stick, then the other.
- Purchased and replaced a new power supply.
Here is a breakdown of my system;
- Power Supply - Crosair CX600M
- CPU - Intel Skylake i5 6600K
- Motherboard - MSI Z170A Gaming Pro
- RAM - Crosair 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz Vengeance LPX
- Graphic - MSI GeForce 780 OC edition (3GB) / (tested also with MSI GeForce GT 430)
- SSD - Samsung 840 EVO Pro 128GB - (OS)
- SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB - (Games/Media)
- OS - Windows 7 SP1 (fully updated)
Does anyone have any suggestions I could try or what the believe is likely to be the problem.
Thanks.
