Hey there

I've got a gigabyte z77 ud5h fitted with a 3570k.

I overclocked it to 4.6 GHz @1.32V Vcore.

However, I can't go higher because when I try 4.7 Ghz, the pc freezes just after the POST, I can't do anything, even going back to the bios is impossible. Only a clear cmos gets me to succesfully boot. I tried increasing the vcore up to 1.36V, but it freezes all the same.

Is this "normal" ?

the hottest core is at 75° in coretemp, 70° in OCCT

I tried overclocking with turbo boost. It does 4.6 GHz @1.40 V Vcore, but the temps are rising to 90° ...

I've got a H100 cooler and plenty of case fans. Are these temps normal ?

Avoid the auto clocking tools like the plague, not seen a good setup come from one, always over volted for the necessary setup.

However your 4.6 temps looks ok to me. I assume that's after several hours of testing though?
Sounds like a wall though. 4.6 is very respectable though wont see much / any difference to 4.7

be careful clocking that high with the ivybridge, unless things have been sorted recently thats close to its limit due to temp issues iirc.

as for being "normal", yes overclocks can cause those sort of issues.
