specs
ryzen 3700x
fighter 6700xt
2x8 GB 8 pac 3600 ram
3 fans
Corsair TX 850 psu
4 sata drives
Liquid Freezer II High Performance CPU Water Cooler - 360mm

Tested ram with memtest-passes
Also tried 2x16 GB of Trident Z 3600 ram
Tested gfx with multiple loops of 3d mark and unigine valley and heaven -All passed
Tested cpu with various programs cpu-z for instance. All cores maxed, works fine no problems
Temps hit max of around 60 on cpu and 80 on gfx ish
Playing Destiny 2 am getting hard locks frequently. Not every time i play but often
Game freezes on screen, sometimes recovers after about 10 secs, sometimes needs a reset via case button
General browsing/pc stuff rock solid
My thinking is maybe the psu?It has got to be over 10 years old
Got a EVGA 600 watt 80 plus psu as a spare here, over 5 years old but has not been used more than 24 hours max i would say.Would this be sufficient to run my system?
Non overclocked
Opinions please :)

That game only
tbh i have not played many other games for a while
Destiny is the `newest/high end`game i have
only started doing this in the last few weeks, been working fine with this gfx card since last summer

Game specific problems is seldom hardware normally drivers, bugs or to higher settings for the pc to handle.

Download heaven benchmark and push your system settings to check for instability in the gpu .

Would also download Msi afterburner to see whats going on with gpu, cpu usage in game.

Just did a quick test on heaven all at highest settings 2560x1600 res on my monitor
186 w on gfx card
71oC on gfx
temp junc 90oC on gfx
cpu@23%
4.2GHZ
temp 54oC
ran perfectly, will do a longer test later, but would this indicate it is a game/driver issue?and not power supply?

It does look that way but never rule out anything.

Was there any driver updates , windows or game updates around the time of the problem.

If you have system restore take your pc back before the crashing to test.

don`t remember there being any gfx updates or windows updates especially.I usually give gfx updates a few weeks till i do them same for Bios (if there is anything i want in them)
Not keen on a system restore, have had them go breasts up before, will try a gfx driver re-install

Fair enough.

Maybe try previuos driver.

Just installed the previous driver from OCTOBER,will try the game this evening and report back
Will have a look through my steam games for something a bit more demanding, but if it passes with heaven and 3dmark on ultra settings it would suggest that it is a game issue to me

Had an hour and a half on D2,no freeze :)
Hopefully it was the `new` driver.Installed an older driver before playing tonight and fingers crossed it has fixed it

update
Installed gfx drivers from oct/now and has been working fine since(fingers crossed this has sorted it)
Thanx for the suggestion of previous driver :)

Well tried the recent updated drivers and the problem reared its ugly head again
Same symptoms :(
rolled back to the october update and works fine, looks like i will have to stick with this now.Bit odd as untill the dec/jan update i was updating drivers as soon as they came out with no trouble whatsoever

Bit extreme but will certainly do this eventually
Not due for a full wipe for while yet,got too much crap installed :(

UPDATE
DDU ed the gfx drivers as i was getting lots more crashes.and defaulted game settings to default with the exception of `motion blur to off`
Was able to install and run the last but one driver now(latest driver will be tried soon)
LOOKS??? like it is sorted now,,,fingers crossed
