Hi guys, ever since I built the rig in my sig last week I have been unable to use the sleep function.

Basically when you click the mouse to wake it it takes a fair bit of time to come on, then it locks up and fans go to 100%, then the screen goes black.

This all happens across a minute or so and the only way to solve it is to turn the power off and back on again (twice as windows tries to resume again).

Obviously this is annoying and I've now had to set my pc to never go to sleep. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Is your PC overclocked?

If so I would set that back to default and try the sleep then... its a good place to start.

What type of sleep is it set to use? There are a lot of problems that people experience with hybrid sleep and hibernate modes.

I had a similar problem until I switched off hybrid sleep mode and then changed the sleep options in the BIOS.

Might be good to try:
1. Turn off hybrid sleep.
2. Make sure it's sleeping, not hibernating.
3. If that doesn't work, try changing around the sleep and power-on options in the BIOS.

I had this problem and it was a USB device that did not install its drivers correctly.

So look in your device manager see if thats a problem.

Ok guys thanks for tips, I'll try those. It is overclocked as per sig but it does it at stock settings too.
