Hi,i brought a 320gb external hard drive, boots fine, when copying a large file pc locks up! ok on another pc's,its my usb bonked? or its my powersupply not giving enough juice?
thanks

Is it formatted as fat32 or ntfs because fat32 only supports file sizes up to 4gb...not sure if it would give an error or just hang.

that's a good point. my 320gb external drive came pre-formatted as fat32. :)

i noticed on the leaflet that came with mine said not to use the front usb ports, only the rear. i have no idea how yours is connected but i'd just thought i'd mention it.... :p

i tryed it on the motherboard (rear) usb ports, doesnt work, chucked in an old usb pci card.....works a treat!! so i am very puzzled!

i had similar problems with my front usbs on my external hdd also plugged into the ones at the back of mobo all is fine why is anyones guess as my steering wheel and camera works great in the front ones guess its a power thing or something all that matters is it works now so the reason isnt too important to me ........

2p :p

Have a look in the BIOS to see what mode the on-board USB posts are running in... if it's USB 1.1 then that may well be the problem :)
