Just built my new rig, A10 5800K, F2A55-M, 8GB corsair 1866 ram, Corsair 430W power supply. Running on integrated graphics. The PC freezes during gaming. Is my power supply up for the job?

It should be up to it, have you OC'd as you may need more volts.

also may be worth checking your temps, may be overheating under load

No overclocking done, not been required. Ran Prime95 for about 20 mins, highest temp was 51 Celcius. However CoD:BO usually quits before 20 minutes. Maybe it's just an error with the game? So far it's frozen 3 times. Bought some new thermal paste as well, just to lower temps a bit more

8GB RAM, so far just CoD, ran prime95 for 20 minutes, highest temp was 51 celcius. Re-installing CoD just incase it had something to do with the install

Hi,

Firstly, make sure the RAM is running at the correct frequency, timings and voltage as recommended by the manufacturer. Run your RAM at the factory settings i.e. SPD or AUTO. Reset the CMOS if you have to then retest.

Run memtest86+ . THis will show you if you have RAM related problem but this doesn't mean the RAM is faulty. It could be the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) is faulty which is located on the CPU for newer Intel models. You'll need to find out which or which modules is faulty if that is the case..

If the memtest still shows errors then test using one memory stick at a time in the same slot. If one stick fails but the others do not then you have found your faulty stick.

If however, all sticks fail or pass then repeat the test in another bank/slots. If the RAM works in one slot but not the other then this is certainly going to be a problem with IMC.

I have a memory troubleshooting guide here:

If your memory looks ok, then you may need to check your PSU:

If you can boot into your system via safe mode, then take a good look at the system dump and Event Manager for clues. Event manager is often overlooked and under estimated.

Make sure your drivers are fully upto date.

Hope that helps :)

When you say your PC freezes, does it recover after a short period or does it lock up completely? If it locks up and then recovers with a message about your display driver it might be instability with your gfx card. Otherwise it would seem like your RAM as suggested above.

Yep, fresh install of windows done 2 days ago. Memtest didn't seem to run despite following all the instructions given on a youtube video. The PC freezes then doesn't recover as far as I'm aware. Using prime95 I can stress test the RAM up to 5000mb and it doesn't freeze what so ever. Does this mean that it could be an error on the game's behalf? I should also add this used to happen on my old PC but that was because it could barely run at 30fps. I have already tried a fresh install from the disk, should I try downloading it again rather than use the disk?

Which drivers would those be? I installed one's for graphic, would there be a seperate set for RAM? Also would taking out and replacing the battery in the motherboard re-set the bios?

Integrated graphics for gaming? Is this not the problem?

Edit: Just noticed those new chips are supposed to have premium graphics

So I underclocked the CPU from 3.8ghz down to 3.5 and it's working as you would expect it to work at 3.8. I'm happy with the chip running at 3.5, I'd just like to know is this an issue with the voltages? (I haven't touched the voltages or CPU base clock or anything, just changed 38 to 35
