Hi guys,

i upgraded recently, PC as in sig, mobo changed from an agp msi board, and 6800gt. formatted HD, fresh install of windows, sp2, updates, blah, using nforce 4 driver from nvidia website, cat 6.4, direct x 9.c.

the damn thing is freezing during nwn and oblivion, i haven't installed any other games apart from FM06, which is fine. it doesn't do it while surfing the net, etc. when it freezes the pc locks up completely, requiring a reset.

i've re-installed drivers, direct x, defragged, ran virus scans, spyware, etc, ran mem test, memory seems fine.

does anyone have any ideas? i'd rather not re-format if i can possibly help it :(

is it possibly the gpu or is it a red herring?

no, everything is at stock. tbh i thought the psu would be ok, its not an atx one but its a decent wattage and make :)

I'm not sure now a days with these vga cards, everyone seems to be buying a 500w+ psu. I don't know if you can test it to make sure its ok

What about any driver issues that you might have?? Is there any conflicts in the device manager with your sysytem, could be worth a check :)

I am having similar problems mate, and I am almost sure it's down to RAM in my situation. In your's it could be too.

I've been told by a few people it could be my PSU though, although my comp stays absolutely stable with only one stick of RAM in it so I am certain it's RAM.

Try taking one stick of RAM out and see if the games play okay..

Hi, why not try another game besides FM06, as reading on the oblivion forums, a lot of people are having problems with this game crashing and maybe you have to tweak the setting or something, as it sounds to me as if your hardware is OK, just oblivion is freezing.

Try another game besides NWN that is graphic intensive first and check the temps of the card and also see if you can get another driver set to try with the ATI card that are stable.
