hi guys, past few days been having problems with pc here... i hear a noise which sounds like its trying to read a floppy/HDD then the screen will just freeze up and a reboot is required. Any ideas what the possible problems could be? Would it possibly be disk problems with some of my non-os HDDs?

Go in to control panel, administrative tools, event viewer and look under "system" for any errors. They are usually good clues to what went wrong.

thanks for that - never knew there was such a thing! its bringing up errors about disk i/o problems. im thinking maybe just a dodgy cable/sata port or something? trying new cable in a different port here and so far so good.

still no joy with this - same noise returns and now windows isnt booting up. really really ******* me off this thing!

I'd make a ghost image straight away the next time it boots, and store it on cd or a separate drive from the os drive

sounds like the drive you have the os on is on its last legs
