PC Front headphone jack Issues

Hi all,

If this thread is in the wrong place then please let me know where I should place this query.

My headphone jack found at the back of my pc is absolutely fine. However the front headphone input only works when the cable is pushed to one side - otherwise the audio only comes through the left side, no audio out the right side. I have tested multiple headsets and this is a recurring theme so it is not the headset.

Could people give me a check list to go through to try and troubleshoot this problem? I bought this pc from overclockers and this has been as issue from day 1. Also is there a guide anywhere on replacing an audio jack input if that is the solution?

Many thanks!

TBH it sounds like either the Socket is faulty or the wiring from the motherboard to the panel is dodgy. I'm not sure anything can be done.

I've had that on a few cases over the years, granted i don't usually spend a fortune on them but they must use dirt cheap parts for the front headphone sockets. I don't even bother having them plugged into the motherboard anymore when i get a new case and just use the sound card output.

Sound City would be the proper place for this thread, but to me it sounds as though there is a fault within the socket, if you have to manipulate the headphone jack in order to get sound from both channels.

If it is indeed a fault with the socket, then one possible option might be to contact the case manufacturer and get them to send you a new front I/O board, which you can replace yourself, or maybe return the system to OcUK for a replacement case.

Best to give OcUK customer service and call and see what they can advise.
