PC Game Orders

Really annoyed right now, two of the biggest releases of their year (Cataclysm and Skyrim) were pre-ordered months in advance from a certain rainforest related company, both PC games.. both are messed up.
First was Cataclysm.. which was pre-ordered months in advance first day delivery by my brother for me. Snowy Weather, royal mail fail to deliver it in time. In fact, it gets delivered a month later and we had to buy a new copy just because they messed up.

Now this, Skyrim was pre-ordered months ago, august or maybe even july/june. Everything seemed fine until this night when they finally say that they cannot charge my dad for the game for whatever reason.
They waited months to tell us this, not bothering to check or charge beforehand, and then notify us only a few hours before the game is released.
I have personally requested 3 pre orders for 3 games, the only one they actually followed through on was Fable 3 - a console game that I played a few times, enjoyed, but wasn't as big a release as the other two, and not as looked forward to by me.

I'm really frustrated by this, because Amazon have almost never let down my brother or father, yet they've let me down more times than didn't.
I'm extremely tempted to never pre-order a game from them again because of this. And I miss out on the cloth map too, that I cannot get now unless I want a stained torn overpriced version off ebay a few months in the future. Brilliant.

/Rant over

Cant really hold them responsible for the snow, Amazon always charge for games when they ship not in advance, its always been this way and most sites are the same so no real surprise in that.

should have got Skyrim from OCUk.

Meh, I thought very much the same when cata was delayed, still, surely you would check with the bank that the money is ready etc instead of waiting til the last possible moment when if a mistake occurs the game is delayed for us and we lose our preorder bonuses.
I think that I can blame Amazon with Skyrim for not using basic logic and doing what is the obvious option.

I don't understand. Daddy orders you a game months in advance and then does not have the money in his account to pay for it 1/2 days before it is due to be delivered. No money = no game. But you say its not daddys fault for not paying for it?

It is a bit silly that games such as Skyrim which we cannot possibly play* until release due to Steamworks cannot be posted early to ensure it arrives on or before release. It's one more thing which goes against buying a physical copy and one thing which they could easily change.

*Yeah there are proxy tricks you can try but I doubt the majority of people would bother.

Yer, although i like having a physical Copy the connivance of just preloading on a digital download is so nice for things like Cataclysm when you want to play soon as servers go live

I feel your pain, I'm still "waiting" for my copy of BF3 to turn up since I've preordered. Apparently I can't count it as "lost" or "undelivered" until 21 days after dispatch, and I definitely can't afford to buy a second copy to tide me over while I wait :p

So much for preordering, eh ;)

Actually the map is pretty awesome. Also they cannot take the money when you pre-order months in advance, they ONLY take the money when it gets dispatched, or they try to dispatch it, So that would have been yesterday I guess.

Mine came from Tesco yesterday ;)
