Been trying to record some Audiosurf game footage.

I have Afterburner, K-Lite Codec pack, Sony Vegas 12

Main problem is Afterburner, I managed to record some raw footage, but a 4 minute video without audio ended up unusable says Vegas, The format was .avi, I've a few different codec options in afterburner (Xvid, H264) but Audiosurf crashes...

All I want is a reasonable quality video around 720p and less than 500mb per 5 minutes.

Has anyone got a quick simple 'this is how I've been doing it for ages without issues fix?'

Afterburner is the latest 3.0.0 Beta 15.

I'd be tempted to have a look at http://obsproject.com/ I have been using to record The Secret World in 1080p and it does create nice small files in pretty much most formats but it can also stream directly to twitch.tv etc etc.

Its also FREE!

Sick to death of this now,

Tried Orbs, got audio, black screen...

Tried Dxtory and nothing, set the folders up correctly, the hotkey, nothing... It shouldn't be this bloody hard to capture game footage!?!?!?!

Dxtory, hands down winner, worth ever penny (about 20 quid) and lets you split audio channels, which i think is pretty important, especially if you play with other people.

OP are you limiting fps? I thought it would be clever to limit it to 30fs as that's youtube's limit, however this really messed with the audio. Try setting the limit to 60fps or off. :)

Probably a hardware based recorder, screen cap than installed software, or record it (like ingame-built) and playback and use screenrecorder? I did this under CSS back in thes days. The ingame rec, uses a lot less powah. IMO Ive seen them boxes that are dedicated for the action.
