Hello all,

I'm about to make a return to PC gaming after 12 years in the console wilderness. I'm looking to build a PC capable of running current games a max or near to max settings at 1080p 60fps using my existing 1080p monitor with the potential to move to 1440p 60fps+ in the near future if I pick up a new monitor.

Looking for inspiration I stumbled up on this build by PC Gamer https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/gaming-pc-build-guide/ .

Intel Core i5-8400
Gigabyte Z370P D3
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
16GB DDR4-2400
Samsung 970 Evo 500GB
Corsair TX650M
Phanteks Eclipse P400

I'm interested in what your thoughts are on this build. Should I be considering an alternative set-up? Are any of the components obviously under or over specced?

Thanks!

@VonBooros

does look solid, £70 more with Freesync 1440p 75hz screen- freesync are normally £200 cheaper the g-sync nvidia ones.

board comes with £40 steam voucher from Gigabyte and 3 free games with AMD GPU

matches 8gb of ram like the article, 16gb does bump up the price in Both intel and amd builds

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,125.14 (includes shipping: £15.30)

nvidia + intel i5 8600k - clock it to 4.8ghz all cores

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,093.89 (includes shipping: £14.10)
