PC Gamer magazine (US) - Going digital on Steam

I'm probably going to regret this, but why all the hate for PCG?

Everyone remembers at least one review that was just such a blatant pay-off that it sticks in their minds forever :D

I stopped reading it when the reviews were still relatively honest, but the score didn't reflect the review at all.

im surprised these relics still exist, they should have made moves a long time ago and I personally cant see them living for that much longer.

I see it! but PC Gamer are a bunch of **** ££££ sellouts

This

a long long time ago they used to provide good impartial reviews that were not leveraged to the hilt by corporate greed and software houses looking to cash in on gullible readers.

Now I wouldn't use the pages of PC Gamer to wipe my ass after taking a dump.

I find game reviews in the PC Games section of these forums a lot better than PC GAmer articles where they simply feed you the company line as per their sponsors wishes.

Do you have any evidence for this? I find that very hard to believe.

Not sure what the poster said but mags/websites do get huge pressure form publisher about who writing the review, what it says, whats the score etc etc. See what happened at Gamespot when someone gave a bad review for a game that adds all over their site. (He got fired.)

I actually buy PC Gamer as it's good to flick through on my lunch break. I don't really take the reviews too seriously, but the previews etc are nice.
