It comes down to who you are and what you care about. Currently I have a PC and a Wii U. Why? Because I had a mid-range PC with an 8 year old graphics card, which I could upgrade for £35 second hand and run everything I want to at reasonable settings and 1080p. Had I not had the PC sat there already, I'd have bought a PS4/XBone, but it didn't make sense to spend the best part of 10x as much.
On the other hand, if you really, really care about graphics the difference between high end PC graphics and console graphics is noticeable.
Additionally, PC games are dirt cheap (I've not spent more than a tenner on a PC game for as long as I can remember), and you can get Civ, Football Manager, and Total War.
