PC gaming compared to console gaming

plus pc games can be tried before money is exchanged :D

Can we not get rid of these lame people on OCUK yet? Part of the problem why PC developers are few and far between.

Anyway just to re balance PC gaming is also HIGHLY annoying. Some games are just ported badly and run VERY bad on your high end gaming rig.

Having to edit lines in an ini file to fix a game that is broken from day 1 also is annoying. Especially when NONE of this crap happens on consoles.

I have a Decent PC and an xbox 360 and my preferable gaming platform is the PC. When things works its brilliant, playing games at native 1080p and also using mods is just amazing. When it doesnt work however i feel a little cheated that i have to jump through hoops to play a game

You're new to pc gaming yet you own the rig in your sig?

what exactly did/do you use it for?

It is a darn good question..!! Its a really nice spec'd rig. Still, he'll run pretty much anything on that puppy and have fun so why not? Better late then never I guess..

He'll notice the difference in graphics though... All console gamers that venture over to a PC do..

my first thought exactly :p

Hey, thats not fair. some do prefer to play with a gamepad, its been discussed many times before. Heck, even I played Half Life 2 with a gamepad once they built gamepad with aim assist into the game, was fantastic on my 42" plasma, gamepad in hand on the sofa....

Now, online FPS.. Yeah best get that trusty keyboard and mouse ready..!!

yea i suppose it can fun to play with the gamepad, but..somehow having played with a mouse and keyboard forever it doesnt really feel right moving to aim-assisted sticks :o

I used to be a console gamer (after the Amiga), all the way up to the GameCube. My friend then showed me FarCry on his PC.

I spanked a grand and a half on a rig just to play it. Then BF2 / HL2 etc etc.

If I am forced to go back to consoles one day, I will probably give up gaming.

True. I had huge admiration for PS3 until my first built PC with Q6600 and 5850. Since then I have not really looked back and my PC just feels superior in every single way compared to ps3. Now I have the added comfort of buying sales through steam or other online retailers and in general pc games seem to be much cheaper than their console counterpart online:).

so PC's are good for FPS, what type of game is better on the PS3?

For me none are. Graphics will always be better on a decent gaming PC and any interface can be used on a PC to play.

The only one thing I like about the Xbox360 I have is that I can race split screen when friends are over, something that cant be done generally through PC games without said friends bringing over their own PCs. That said I've noticed on many xbox games now for multiplayer you'd have to play over the net too.

I have to admit, I don't know why... No one tells me, it just happens but I go over to my PS3 and play it for maybe one or two months and actually use it as a games console..

But for no reason I just end up back on my PC playing PC games. What is it with being an old school PC gamer? You just can't seem to get away from being a PC gamer..

I always say - this'll be the last time I dabble in PC games. Sure it can be frustrating, getting a game and it not running, or having to mod a game to fix developer errors, or even fudging a PS3 gamepad into the system - anything..

But I always end up back on my PC. I guess since getting a PC way back in 1992..?? and then quickly moving to a gaming PC by upgrades etc I've just never been able to just hang up the towel and move solely to a console..

I've tried.. I've now just sold my second xbox360 as it simply wasn't being used as for media streaming PS3 does that... Such a carry on. lol

Its like being a PC gamer is nerdy or something and you don't really want to admit it... But hey ho..!! Welcome to PC gaming anyhow, see you this time next year, along with the rest of us...

*shakes head* lol
