I don't really see it dying, i see less players but not it totally dieing.

I don't see the monthly "PC Gaming dead???!!??" threads dying either :p

I know very few people who use their PC for games. It's (a) more expensive and (b) harder to set up for a numpty. With a console, it's cheaper, and you just stick a game in and it runs.
At the same time I love gaming on the PC and rarely play consoles except for the Megadrive downstairs and the occasional Pro Evo on PS2 :)

This comes up at the launch of each new console, has it died yet? NO!
Pc gaming gives to many people so much more than a console, and thus it will never die.

I defiantly agree with this. The last 2 gens have been moving heavily in this direction with features like downloadable content/patches, online play, video/audio playback, IM/online chat/friends lists and hard drives. The one real advantages PC gaming still has are the keyboard and mouse, and I would be surprised if future consoles don't add decent support for this.
If they go that way wouldn't they just be a pc in a box?
Hmm "Ponsoles" has a ring to it :D

Its not going to happen any time soon. I've seen these "discussions" since the PS1 was released and every week or so afterwards. But as said above PC's and consoles will eventually be "merged", and I don't mean just the mouse/keyboard side of thing. I wouldn't use a console soley because the games support a mouse and keyboard. I don't think this'll be properly done for a long long time, to the satisfaction of the majority of PC gamers anyway.

Also no, game developers wont stop making games for the PC. Where ever theres money to be gained they'll still keep them coming.

Diminishing returns?

There was a time when i thought the Amiga would never die and the PC was no threat, I also thought there would always be Sega console. But times change and now the biggest name in the PC world also makes a rather good console.

Take nothing for ganted!

tomanders91 : now and again you'll come across some article or thread questioning the death of PC Gaming.

this question has been going on since PC Gaming began. i wouldn't pay any attention to any suggestion that PC Gaming is dying. it's drivel.

PC is the ultimate gaming format, strong as ever. technology will evolve and of course the PC will probably expire in the future but not for a very long time.

i wouldn't lose sleep over swapping your 360 for a PC anytime soon.

Thats the point I was making. :p

Its inevitable that something better will come along, a hybrid of the two for instance, but I don't see it being any time soon. The Xbox360 and PS3 arn't a huge improvement over the previous generation in that respect, so we'll have to see what happens in 4-5 years time, and even then I don't think the consoles will have caught up.

So from what I can see, PC gaming isn't going anywhere for quite some time. :p

This question seems to have cropped up every other week since I joined these forums...

PC gaming is still going strong, look at titles like Supreme Commander coming out soon and then say PC gaming is dieing!

How can consoles ever 'catch up' with PC's if they remain in a static state through out their life-time, whereas PC's get more and more powerful everyday..

PC gaming will die when developers stop making games. Developers will stop making games when there is no money to be made..

I have no idea if this will ever happen, but if the number of PC gamers declines to a certain point, it could well happen..

can we have a new rule pls dons?
"NO THREADS ON CONSOLES KILLING PC GAMING"

k thx bye

Have one of these basically every day or so, usually manage to delete the ones with no substance but seem to have missed this one.

PC gaming will not die, to much money in it.

The way we game on the PC may change etc etc said a 1000 times a month etc etc.

Basically, revive a dead thread, several to choose from all of different vintages.

Personally the 2002 vintage is my favourite, by 2005 we will not game on PC was the flavour of that year. :)
