PC Gaming Is Dead!

PC Gaming is not dead, but it is laying dormant in an industry obsessed with profits and stunted by a total lack of willingness to advance past 'Ooooh, shiny graphics' and 'point, click, dead' mentality'

Its pathetic people not buying a game due to one fact, not having pretty pictures on the front or because something is not drawn correctly, totally stupid excuse that not do buy a game, pathetic.

I happen to think that the front of UT3 looks pretty crappy, but that never stopped me from buying it and actually enjoying the game... Some how iBot I think you just taking the **** now.

If box art wasnt important they would all look like this

The fact is, If I havent read a review or heard anyones opinions It comes down to whats printed on the box.

Glad you like it, i did this one first but decided the game was probably too old for the point.

I usually put my reading skills to use and turn the box around by picking it up and then reading whats on the back, of course its important to have something decent on the front, but IMO if the picture on the front has the right content then its fine, does not have to be all flashy. But even if it did look like that in the silly picture you posted, I still would take the time to find out what the game is about.

Before you send off your CV please try to write in clear easy to read english...

iBot, you're still unbelieveable.
I personally can't find much wrong with the front of Empire earth.
iirc it had pics of the actual game on the back and explained what type of game it was ( RTS).
Why you ignored superb games coz of the box will always stay a mystery to me.

Thats some nice spam there.

Anyhow, time to get this debate back on topic.

I think the main problem facing pc gaming is that the consoles are geared more towards the family market, PC's aren't particularly suited to multiple players on one machine. Its a lot easier when you go round to your mates to play Pro Evo or Guitar Hero than it is to take it in turns on CS.

The Wii for example is marketed at all ages, yet gaming PC's are rarely seen in TV adverts. Even then these consoles are a lot easier to pick up and buy. Theres a lot less hassle in buying a 360 than there is in buying various components for a PC that will run Crysis on medium.

PC Gaming isn't dieing, its just that the console market is becoming a lot more popular due to the range of ages buying and playing games.

You don't see adverts for PC games because PC gaming is for nerds and geeks that have to solder and wire their own components. It's sad and unsociable.

Consoles are acceptable, because they encourage the family to get together. You can even connect to the interweb and talk to other people around the world.

Am I right?

Thats probably the view of the mainstream, yeah........

No, thanks for briefly skimming over my post and missing my point completely.

For one, you can connect to the "interweb" via a PC. Now, i'll give you a minute to digest this information as I know it may be hard to handle. If you asked a teenager what they used their pc for the answers would be geared mainly towards MSN and porn.

With more kids watching TV, console adverts are more effective. These are the generation growing up on 360's and the like, and they are often the ones who start these debates on their fanboy boards.

a lot of people also lack the technical knowledge to fit graphics cards, ram upgrades and new processors onto the motherboard. Theres no need for these issues with a console. People are lazy, and at the end of the day its easier to buy and use a console than it is a PC.

m0r94n - First I wasn't addressing you. Second, I was being totally sarcastic.

Ogs probably sees what I was trying to do - just exaggerating the view of the mainstream. But nevermind.
