Hi guys, (Hope this is the right place to ask)

I'm about to buy a 32inch TV mainly for Blu Rays/ PS3/ general TV.

I was wondering if you think it would be suitable to play PC games on at a distance? It's a 1080p display.

I'd use my 'normal' monitor for standard PC use.

Cheers...

32" from across the room? 1080 is almost a waste on such a small tv.
I would lower the resolution and have smoother frame rates with AA+AF maxed out instead

I guess it's personal preference, being slightly short sighted I'd prefer a 20" 1080p PC monitor at arms reach than a 1080p TV a few meters away because the distance and size would negate the resolution and make small details hard to see still.

For me, it depends on what I'm playing. With anything like an RTS or MMO where you have a lot of small text/info panels, I prefer my monitor. For FPS or action games, I much prefer my TV.

It will probably be ok, but nothing more. Isn't 1080p 1280x1024? For a normal PC monitor you'd expect to have a native res of 1900x1200 for anything in excess of 22". That said, at the range you're talking about it probably wont make a difference.

I use my 32" 1080p TV for racing games and GTA IV/EFLC when my girlfriend is round. I don't sit miles away from the TV--probably about 1.5M away, though this is mainly due to me being marginally short-sighted. The picture looks just as good as my 22" monitor.

I replaced my 22" Dell 2209WA with a 32" Samsung c530. It wall mounted, about 4 feet away from where I sit. Its great for watching films and gaming. There is a bit of ghosting in fast FPS games (SOF2) and its obviously not as good quality as the Dell that has a va panel. But its massive in comparison, full HD and only cost £300

At roughly what distance ??

About 2 metres

I'm hoping to get the 32C500!

Anyway, I'd like to get the Xbox360 controller linked for FPS.

At the moment, my pc room is being decorated so I'm using my pc on a 50" plasma with the sofa right in front of it (about 1 meter), I've surprisingly become accustomed to the slight quality decrease from my monitor and now I'm almost not wanting to go back to my monitor/desk setup. I seem to be finding it easier in FPS like BC2 as well, will see what happens.
