Guys, I want to get back into PC Gaming but I cannot have a desk in extension and so its either a laptop on the dining table or wireless keyboard and mouse on the sofa can anyone offer any tips or advice been trawling for days and cannot make my mind up.

I had a problem like this, because I have my TV on the wall I couldn't have a desk so what I do was bought a 4ft fold away table 
still have my mouse and keyboard wired also. when not using it folds up into a 2ft piece easy to store away.

My gosh i hate that word!
But definately a good idea, making something yourself would be the best option IMO. Custom kit is always the best, even if it isn't always the most reliable.

My mate used to game from his bed. Keyboard on his lap and the mouse was on a mousemat which was balanced on his knee. Sometimes he used a collection of coffe mugs as a mouse mat stand. Still not great.
My advice, get down to ikea and get a 'dave'.

i have a friend who just uses a piece of mdf for his mouse and keyboard. depending on your sofa and the position of the arms this might be suitable for you.
someone should make a keyboard with a mouse platform built onto the side.

Thanks for the replys. I have seen the DAVE tables hinted at before.
If there was space for a desk I would have one but unfortunately the wife will not allow it due to me previously having all this and then selling it. We now have an extension on the back which will be furnished with sofa and small table for the TV and PS3.
Was just looking at a Dell with GT555m was thinking this might be ok for guildwars 2 and Diablo etc but still not sold on this over a PC rig but alas I'm forced into going down the laptop road unless i can see some other solution. Been look at fold away tables but none appear to suit.
