Anyone using Vista 64?

You can't activate the game using the CD check, it then ask's you for a CD Key as an alternative...............which isn't on the disc or any of the game packaging.

Apparently it's a starforce/Vista 64 issue.

No idea but i will soon find out tomorrow when i try and install it.
Does anyone know if it can use 4 cores and 4gig of ram?

Will this game run well on this setup coz if it will i will get this weekend

Intel PD 920 2.80GHZ oc to 4.00 GHZ

2gb ram 667mhz DDR2

8800 320MB

Vista HP x64

I've upgraded to C2D but the mobo was DOA.... awaiting RMA replacement.

Generally speaking most games are GPU limited in normal gaming settings anyway....

^If you look here you can see that a x2-3800+ with a 8800GTS utterly destroys an FX-62 with a 1950XTX. For gaming, spending the extra on a gfx card is nearly always worth it in comparison to other areas of the system. Or in other words, while a well balanced system looks good on paper, it's often not the most efficient.
Ah I see :p

Just don't see it everyday. :)

Won't work on Vista 64 as there's a problem with Starforce asking for a non existent CD Key!

It's pot luck whether customer service will send you a key that does activate the game.

Hardware wise you won't have any problem at all running this game.

Its working on my Vista x64 ultimate, although on this new build i seem to be getting a LOT of blue screens, i think i will double check all the RAM voltages timings and re-install the drivers.

As for the game itself runs VERY smooth.
Everything on full
Q6600
2gig
8800GTX

All settings possible to the highest 1440x900 35fps at the lowest, no higher than 50fps perhaps one noticable stutter at the beginning of a buggy race, using lastest patch. Not the best optimised game Ive ever seen.
8800GTX E6600 4GB RAM

Recieved a new code and it now works with Vista 64.

I tried the game at 1920x1080 with all settings at medium, and it's super smooth.

E6600
4GB RAM
X1950XTX

I'll up the settings and see how it goes.

is it just me or are the controls for this game awful ? the cars seem to tunn like boats

Try a pad, much much better, infact I'd say they're pretty much perfect even without calibration.

OMFG is it just me or does every not mind the protection software that gets installed? it restarted pc then messed up ATI tool....

any ways got the game on ultra@1280x1024 with 28-41fps average is 35

i got the 1.1 patch installed too, got GTS OC 650/2000

how much difference is high setting? whats the performace/eye candy ratio?

Demo is probably the worst performance I've seen from any game:

Venice @ 2.5ghz
2gig PC3200
8800GTS-320 (overclocked)

640x480
All settings on low
0xAA
0xAF
NV control panel set to max performance

Min framerate of 18fps in the buggy race.

Now I know that's a crappy cpu by today's standards, but I would have thought in 640x480 low settings it would at least be playable on a 8800.

Thats not right, i'm on a 2.8ghz 3700+ sandy here with an 8800GTS 640, 1gb ram, I run at 1440x900, all settings to max, 2xMS and I get never under 30fps on the 2 tracks in the demo apart from the buggy one which goes down to a minimum or 17fps. my average is around 35 fps apart form the buggy track too.

could someone post a change log for the 1.1 patch, what exactly does it do?

PATCH 1.1:

* Fixed a bug where entering the options menu inside the game with no active sound card present would cause the game to crash.

* The game will now display an error message and prompt the user to quit the game when graphics settings are set beyond their hardware capabilities.

* Fixed an issue where on rare occasions vehicle's bonnets/wings would be invisible on entering a race.

* Corrected the minor miss spelling of Portuguese in the game.

* Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when regaining focus from another application, or the desktop.

* The sound mixer now defaults to SOFTWARE, for improved game performance. D3D and OPENAL are still available, for higher quality.

* Increased maximum Head-cam movement speed by 50%

* 5 axes mode support for Thrustmaster "RGT Force Feedback Pro" wheel

* Fixed a bug where Force Feed Back on controllers would stop working after the user returned focus to the game.

* Fixed a rare bug where it was possible to drive your vehicle before the start lights had gone green.

* Ultra graphic settings modified slightly to be usable with hardware of today.

* Improvements in performance of both internal audio, and external OpenAL drivers
