I dont see what the Cell CPU would have to do with the GPU, it was still some kind of custom 7900 series, so was left well behind when the 8800GTX came out.
Ther was a massive flame thread about this and yes the OP posted it in the non Console section, probably knew what would happen.
put it this way , the ps3 cant render cod4 at 1080p, it does it at lower res and upscales it (640p i heard).
8800 series can render cod4 at 1080p no probs
also, thnk of the AA capabilities of the 8800 series and its clear its leagues ahead.
But do we agree consoles Suck ?![]()
re-writing the cod4 engine too much for the ps3
With PS3 the Cell processor is just as much a component of the graphics system as the GPU (RSX) is, so to compare like for like is only telling half the story.
I believe it's based on the 7800GTX family but clocked faster and with increased cache sizes and other customizations making it suited to PS3's architecture, although not a great deal is known about it to be honest.
The OP asked for comparison on the GPU for a PC and PS3 IMO, thats what I gave him end off.
I aint talking CPU's or Physics Cards etc etc and at the end of the day the PC can put out a far better higher res looking game than any console and all in DX10+P.S 4.0 if thats what you really want to know.
