I did a new build recently with everything new apart from the Case, PSU and a few drives.
What is the issue
These may not sound petty but it's affecting my whole PC experience. I maybe shut down 20-30 times a day.
- Weird things. Programs will refuse to shut down and the whole system does not hang....but just refuses to do anything. Task Manager wont end tasks.
- I will try to run a verification of a steam game and it will hang a ta certain % and then do nothing. Can't close steam. It's like the comms between my apps and SSD are having issues.
- Sometimes when I try to shut down it will just sit there for hours saying 'restarting' or 'shutting down'. I often have to press the power button.
- If I try to restart it will say 'steam is preventing shutdown' but quickly forces it - it's like these apps are having issues.
- Sometimes even the power button on the mobo wont shut the machine down when held for 4 seconds. I need to switch it off at the PSU.
- Often wants to scan C: after a PSU off restart, does this in seconds, never finds anything.
Edit: I never get blue screens or crashes.
What have you done?
- I have reinstalled windows many times.
- All my drives show as healthy apart from one 1TB drive I use for general storage.
- Can't seem to get memtest to run. Wont boot to it.
