PC Hanging

I built a second pc for my pfsense. I bought a brand new power supply and used an old soltek atx mb with a celeron 2ghz chip. I reapplied some new thermal paste and cleaned out the dust and it has 512mb ram in it. I have done memory and cpu diagnostics and it temps are reasonable and it does not freeze when left in the health sensor section of the bios over night. I have tried another hard drive and i do not think it is pfsense OS that is freezing it. But it could be.

Is there anything else that could be causing the pc to hang? I am thinking at this point it could be a faulty m/b. It is about 5 years old.

Could give us some more information? Where abouts does it hang? In windows? On the Post? What are you doing with the comp right before the hang starts?

If your CPU is being read correctly, the correct temps and correct speed, your CPU is fine. could be your ram, but don't wanna jump to conclusions untill you give us more information : )

It is running pfsense which is a modified version of freebsd. I am using it as a firewall. It posts and boots in to the pfsense without any problems. Some times it can work for up to 12 hours without a hang, sometimes 6 hours and other times it hangs within 1 hour.

I have reinstalled pfsense on to another hard drive so i do not think it is pfsense. It could be. I used universal boot cd and ran memtest diagnostics on the ram and it passed.

it also has two old network cards in it (pci) do you think if they were faulty this could cause a hang?
