PC 'hangs' for a few minutes every time I resume?

So basically, whether I reboot or just resume from sleep mode my laptop (running 7) seems to hang for the first few minutes.
I'll open up firefox, and then it hangs for about 45secs, then carries on, then hangs again, whether you open up something else it still occurs. After a couple of minutes, everything runs fine
I recently upgraded from Vista - this happened on Vista also?

I'm using SpyDoctor spyware and reports nothing wrong.

Any ideas guys - starting to get really annoying to me and the wife!

Don't know if it's any help but I had similar behaviour on my laptop and turning off Bluetooth cured it!

Any external devices plugged in or mapped network drives?

No external drives or network drives connected to this laptop I'm afraid. Blutooth is not turned on either. It used to work just fine, but all of a sudden as computers do, started acting strange
