Hi

i have been having issue with my PC since i built it a few years ago and am now coming to the OCUK community for help as you are always good with these things and helpful.it has been doing this pretty much since i built it and i just can't seem to figure out what the issue could be.
I can use the PC for days/weeks without issue then the PC will lock up. This always happens when i walk away from the computer and leave it to idle. During gaming or watching youtube etc this never happens, well i think its happened once but 99% of the time its when i leave the computer to idle.
I instantly know it's hard locked up as my mouse will stop working, even if i unplug the mouse, theres no response so i have to hold down the power button and hard reset it.

No minidumps are present even though i have them setup.in the past i have tried to find out through event viewer and searching online but it always seemed vague and seemed to be multiple issues.have done multiple fresh windows installations. apart from taking parts out and and putting other parts (i don't have spare parts to do this) in to test through trial and error i really don't know what the issue could be hence me asking you lovely bunch of people if you can spot something i maybe missing?

Typically i have built my three kids a PC each and they run flawlessly but mine, yes mine has to be the headache machine as per usual lol.

sorry if image linking isn't allowed or anything.i have no idea how to upload an image of my event viewer on here.OCUK forum just tells me it cannot do it.

Have you tried with:
- XMP off
- C-States/EIST off OR highest power level in Windows power plan
?

What USB devices do you have?

How old is this?

I can use the PC for days/weeks without issue then the PC will lock up.
There's absolutely nothing that could be significant? E.g. Plugging in an external device? Using a high draw device on another circuit? Using a program that you hardly ever use?

hi thanks for the reply.

XMP has always been off with the looks of it.i just found only 1 option in the bios relating to C-state just before you posted.i have disabled that but won't know for weeks or days if it worked.
USB wise the only things i have plugged in are mouse, keyboard and speakers.

programs are just steam games, firefox and brave.plugged in to the wall in my bedroom.no extensions etc

windows power plan is in high performance mode yes, with sleep etc disabled.also in advanced power options hard drive powering off is set to never instead of 20 minutes.
the power supply was bought from OCUK on 02.12.2022

These types of issues are sooo frustrating to track down. I'm assuming you are using all the latest drivers from the various websites.
If it's not a driver issue and you've done fresh Windows installs, then (as you

Have you tried running MemTest to give your RAM a workout?

When it locks up - have you tried to see if the Caps Lock key responds on the keyboard? (to rule out a dodgy mouse).
