PC Hard Restarting During Games

Hi, long time since I've posted here. Been away from enthusiast PC gaming for a while!

Recently, my PC has been restarting whilst playing most games. Deadfire, Kingdom Come, Dark Souls 3 to name a few. It's the same symptom every time - I'll get a few seconds to a few minutes before the system will restart. It's as if the reset button had been pressed.

Nothing shows up in WhoCrashes, MSInfo etc. It's almost like the crash is bypassing any reasonable form of logging.

This all started around 30 hours into playing Original Sin 2. I put this down to the game at the time. Since then, stability seemed to recover enough for me to able to complete the game and put 30 hours into Deadfire without any issues. As of a couple of weeks back, the problem has re-emerged.

Things I've tried:

* Check all connections etc.
* Strip down, full dust & clean out with compressed air, reseat of CPU + thermal paste, reseat GPU, memory and remove/clean PSU.
* H80i tried on turbo mode as I suspected temp problems. Seems OK. 30-40 idle, 40-60 gaming. GPU is 70-90 depending on the game.
* Prime 95 running for 24 hours. All OK.
* 3D Mark ran. No crashes.

It seems quite random in terms of the 'moment' it will reset. On Deadfire it tends to be during battles, but not all. On Kingdom Come, almost instantly in the main menu (rendered in engine). Oddly, on Deux Ex: MD no crashes are observed so far.

Spec:
i7 4790k
Asus Z97 Pro
16GB Corsair Vengeance
EVGA 980 Ti FTW
Corsair TX750M

Really hope someone here has some ideas! I'm at my wits end as it's very frustrating to work through!

As problem seems to be related when there's high GPU load, it would be good to start testing around it.
For example that game main menu can cause extreme framerates.
So try capping frame rate just to see if it makes any difference.

set everything default, no overclocks and see whether you still have the problem, ignore if stock already, then test the memory as well.

As others have said, it does sound power related but wont hurt to eliminate as much as possible.

Good luck, problems like that suck.

I have the EXACT same issue with my PC.

This started roughly 1 month ago, playing games and the PC would reboot randomly without any form of error log, WhoCrashed, EventLog etc was emtpy.

Specs:
i7-5820K
X99A MSI SLI Plus
SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 850W Power Supply
980Ti (Upgraded to RTX 2070) as i thought GPU was faulty.
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Quad Channel Kit

I have also ran multiple tests with CPU running at 100% for hours, no crashing or thermal issues but the second I launch a game and load into the Main menu boom, PC restarts... I cant for the life of my figure it out.

Also tested RAM which seems fine, even tried re-seating CPU/Cleaning case for dust etc.

I do happen to have another PC available soon to test, and will see what I get from that and post here to see if it helps! never been so confused by a PC issues in my life

No Overclock on the RAM at the moment or CPU, all running at default/stock as far as I can see.

I did test all sticks individually, where it crashed once re-ran the same test with no fault... Unless i'm really unlucky I don't think I have 8 faulty RAM modules.

once I have access to the other PC I can test to see if its the RAM at fault, but I think in my case its the Motherboard RAM slots.
