Hi guys i recently built a new PC around a month ago and it has been working fine apart from this issue where i turn the PC on then it takes up to 5 seconds for the Post beep to happern then boot up. I have also had it just hang there for about 10-15 seconds and i just shut off the pc wait 30 seconds and try again and it works fine.

Im running a -
Antec TruePower New Modular 650W Power Supply
ATI Radeon HD 5870
Intel Core i5 760 2.80GHz (lynnfield)
Asus P7P55D-E Intel P55 (Socket 1156)
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler

The only thing i can think of which is causing this issue is that the PCI-E power is coming from the cable that goes straight into the PSU not the one that you can connect into the back of the PSU. But this seems very unlikely.

Any help is really appreciated as this has stumped me for quite a while now trying to figure out why this is happening.

Sadly, a slow POST is something that can be caused by pretty much anything.

Try the BIOS settings- is fast boot enabled?

Are there any external devices or other items plugged into your PC that may be causing you trouble?

Are you using the latest version of the BIOS? Are all of your drivers working and up to date?

Hi thanks for the reply,

Quick boot is enabled but this only speeds things up once u are past hte initial screen iirc. POST state LEDs is enabled which just lights up the onbord LEDs during the post process as far as i know which shouldnt be causing this slow of a post.

i have 3 HDD's plugged in and 1x DVDRW as well as the above items.

All the drivers are upto date and i have just checked the asus site and a new update has come out and ive applied it but i am still getting the same issue.

tbh the main thing i want to know is if the PSU is dying or if it will be causing damage to other parts or even to the PSU itself when the post is this slow?
