Went out to replace my monitor as the old one was on its last legs. unfortunately the pc will not boot at all. There is not even any bios details on the screen etc as it does not detect an inpput signal. There is also nothing coming from the keyboard or the usb lazer mouse. There is power getting to the mobo and the cd and dvd led's light up. The harddrive light remains on red. Wondering if the graphics card is borked? Incidently the cooler is still working on the graphics card. Can anybody help with some info? Thanks

My first thought would be that the new monitor can't display at the resolution the old monitor was set at?
Put the old monitor back on and reset everything down to the lowest settings and try again...

replaced an old faulty crt with a 22 inch brand new tft. Computer would not work on the crt either. This is the mrs's pc and she was using an old ati 9800 agp. I have a pci-express and so I cannot check this with my card.

if it was crt to tft that is very possible

also check the refresh rate as most tft's max out @ 60-75hz

Well if there's no display on the old monitor either then you've maybe zapped the gfx card. Did you switch everything off at the wall before changing the monitor? I remember I swapped a monitor on a 9800pro some years back without switching the monitor lead off at the wall even tho the pc was off and the gfx card was borked after.

Yeah! Mrs just said she switched on and presto-absolutely nothing on the screen: which is wy I thought it was the monitor as the rgb was going etc. Having replaced the monitor and still getting nothing I am assuming it is the graphics card?

So the pc had no display before you even got a new monitor? Sounds like gfx card is gone west, still got the molex connected has it?

I sincerely hope his graphics card doesn't have a molex connected to it o.O

But yeah, sounds like your GPU is gone.

No other agp card about you can try then I suppose?
Your motherboard doesn't have any onboard gfx by any chance?
