OK since i had my last PC taken away by the freakin bailiffs, ive now managed to get enough money together to buy another system, and means i know ZERO about PCs, im hoping you people can help or point me in the right direction with what items i need as i will build it myself, so i need a mobo, cpu, psu, hds drives, gpu, tower, ram and anythink else u can recommend, i have between £400 to £600 or go abit more but not much, but as i say need your help as i want it to have no problems with games and will last me awhile before i will have to upgrade again.

many many thx all

woah, taken by the bailiffs?/ :D

Did they give you time to at least backup your saved games?? :D

So you need everything, peripherals included? Building a gaming machine all in for 400-600 might get a little tight, especially if you're expecting it to last a couple of years.

No i have a mouse, monitor and kb.

| just want a great gaming system that will last a few years before i will need to upgrade, i will be building it myself and as i said i can pay alittle more, but as i said above i know zero about pcs, so thats were u guys/gals come in and help me out i hope lol.

cheers

I'd go for:

CPU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-249-AM
Mobo http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-210-GI
Cooler http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-002-CS
RAM http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-224-CS
Case http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-101-AN
HDD http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA
Optical http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-099-SA
PSU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-117-AN
GPU http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-222-SP

Subtotal £611.80
£520.68 ex VAT

Thre reason for the CPU/Mobo/H50 is that you might be able to unlock the dual to a quad and they clock quite nice. 5770 in there will be great for now (vapor-x cooler to increase oc potential) and if you need more power along the way you can add another for sweet xfire and 5870+ performance. HDD/Case/Ram/PSU/Optical can all be jiggled about to manage the budget, you can definitely squeeze more bang for your buck out of the PSU, i only chose the truepower because they've been reliable in the past for me.

+1 if you are completely new to building then go for a pre made one. You can do a lot of damage if you don't really know what you are doing.

Yeh this is a good point, however its nothing a fair bit of reading and methodical thinking can't solve. I didn't know the first thing about overclocking untill last october, but now i've overclocked two systems with decent speeds, good temps and are entirely stable. Nor had i ever built a full system before. Everyone has to start somewhere i guess ;)

I agree, since it's his first time he just needs to ask questions whenever he's not sure (probably here on OCuk) and make sure he reads up on what to do, probably twice from different sources just to make sure he gets it. I was a noob about PC specs at the beginning of january and now other than Nvidia pricing and performance (which I have a site to compare to other graphics cards anyway) I understand how to make a good quality, relatively future proof gaming bids on various OS's, motherboards and cases.
He'll learn if he wants to.
