Hello, I bought a PC from OC custom build a long time ago.

The specs are as follows

I73930K
ASUS Rampage IV extreme
GTX 980TI (was previously SLI GTX690)
1200W Silencer MKIII
INTEL SSDSC2CT180A3 <-- HDD
st1000dm003-9yn162 <-- HDD
16GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

Now recently I have had problems, my second screen goes black and suddenly comes back on and off, today I loaded my PC up and everything was slow, like I had lag on the home screen, loaded up an app and had a strange noise from the computer, the PC turned itself off, turned it back on and no response, screens wouldn't turn on, kept trying and eventually I got into the BIOS, but it would freeze on the windows sign,

I will post pics of some of the erros.

Anyway eventually I managed to load windows by going back to default settings in BIOS, doesn't seem to lag or stutter now, ran checks on both HDD and came back with no errors?

Anything else I could do? I have important stuff on my computer and don't want to risk this again and have to reinstall windows.

Running a Intel Liquid Cooler, yes, today for some reason when playing CS I am getting 70 fps and it lags like mad on medium settings, usually I can play any settings with no lag.

yea I heard the noise. are you sure thats the fan? Im wondering if the pump has failed or possibly the impellers inside the pump have broken up hence not pumping water.

The noise is coming from the fan/CPU area, not super tech savvy but I first thought I had some sort of HDD issue as it wouldn't boot up as I woke up and turned the PC on and I had these problems, so surely it shouldn't of overheated as soon as I turned it on? I have had it on now for many hours, can't play games and it's definitely way too warm as the max temp on this CPU is around 68c I think, only thing I have done recently (2 months ago) was upgrade the GPU from SLI 690's to a 980TI, the top fan doesn't work and hasn't for a while, I am wondering if I would be able to replace the CPU cooler by myself?

yea I would replace the CPU cooler. if you want to drop in an air cooler just add a fan at the rear as an exhaust fan.

where abouts are you? just if youre local to me I have a stock intel air cooler you could borrow

I was thinking of maybe buying the same cooler I have now or could you suggest an upgrade that would fit/work, if you do live in Falkirk unfortunately you're around 320 miles away from me :D but thanks :)

OK, restarted PC and had same issue, went to BIOS and chose different OC, set it to low settings as it was apparently OC'd to 4.2k, it's now 3.8k and temps are hovering around 65c and load is like 3% still not amazing but when I play CS it rises to over 80c and 50% load, when using 'RealTemp' I get a Thermal Status of 'LOG' which switches to 'HOT' now and then, I am assuming I need to replace the CPU cooler and add thermal paste then? stopped playing CS now and temps are still around 80c now with 10% load.

Try shaking the radiator. Do you hear a sloshing sound? How much of the fluid is left?

Bluntly, you need to not user PC until you get the cooling issue fixed. I've cooked a CPU before and it's an expensive mistake.

Yes I am starting to minimize use now, there's a fan directly above the MOBO that has stopped working although the CPU cooler seems to work, will have to check for fluid when my PC is off and disconnected from the mains, are there any CPU coolers you could recommend? budget of less than £100 and 2011 socket.

Just bought the H100i I linked above, will be fitting it this week and until then I will minimize usage of my PC, hope for temps below 60c when installed.

Installed H110i V2, has fans on top/radiator, fan on front of PC and exhaust fan at back, these are the temps I am getting.

Not experiencing lag or issues, should I be happy with Core 0 @ 35 at 10% load? doesn't go above 50 at 50% load, I think as long as it doesn't reach over 60-70 I should be OK?

Yeah I ran Prime95 to put CPU usage to 100% and it doesn't go above 55c and that's without the fan and pump on 'performance' mode, very happy and my other fans are now working, PC is ICE cold :D
