Am thinking about relocating to the garage due to space in the house and was curious as to what others thought?

Just to clarify, the main area of the garage where the pc would be is an old office I believe so is separate from the other area in as much as it's plasterboarded on timber frame (i think). It doens't get as cold as the other area.

Would humidity / damp be an issue? It's not damp in the main area.

How would the pc cope with such an environment?

if the environment is ok and is comparable to the inside of a house then I think it's ok?

but if its even the slightest bit damp or like my garage where I can see my breath when I go in then I wouldn't want to risk £1000 plus hardware

Humidity would be the main concern you can get damp traps or run a dehumidifier to keep things in check.

How cold is it in the garage as need to make sure it doesn’t freeze.

Not comparable to the house no as it doesn't have heating throughout out the day or night. If i go in, I put the small electric heater on for 10minutes and it's warm enough.

Cold surely this time of year? Is it secure?
Secure enough as the door to the main area is in the garden, is locked and behind the garden door. There's more expensive stuff in there than the pc so it's the least of my concerns.

The main area doesn't get to 0 I don't think when the outside temperature is at 0. I couldn't be 100% on this though.

Does anyone know the humidity ratings of components? Would manufacturers specify this I wonder?

One of my friends has his system in the garage located in a space like what you have said, all he did was fitted a small electric wall mounted heater with a built-in thermostat to keep it at room temps, and he has had no issues with it at all from being in there.

My father kept a iPod sound system in his garage for his gym equipment and after weeks it started malfunctioning, giving electric shocks etc

I definitely wouldn't have it in a garage.

My server has been in brick shed all winter, which gets very cold. It's not bothered it one bit though.
Electronics isn't really that sensitive and actually lower temperature decreases power consumption of ICs little.
Also server running constantly keeps humidity away.
But mechanical parts like HDDs definitely have certain designed ambient temperature.
Older Google study found that in 24/7 use (no thermal cycling of home use) below 35C drive temperature can start to have some effect to reliability and 30C drive temperature showed lower reliability.

iToys have low design quality for environmental factors.
(so that they can deny warranty of phones etc)

I've been running servers in my garage/pcs for over 5 years, some 24/7 and some powered on when needed. The only issues ive had is with heat in the summer months

Keeping the PC turned on in the garage should be approached differently to one that's used intermittently. Always on would generate it's own heat to prevent condensation.
