Can it be done?

Can i fit my pc components into an Apple G5 case without any major fabrication?

Cant find anyone on the net who has done it...

Cheers!

cool, you sound confident...

anything i should be looking out for? or any hints or tips... or is it all going to plug straight in nicely? :p

You will have to cut some bits and it wont fit perfectly, also the more funcionality you want the harder it will be (wiring up the front USB for example)

front usb wouldnt really bother me, and saying that, it should be straight forward wiring there...

Only concerns are the PSU fitting and then the motherboard, not sure if the PCI-E/PCI slots would align properly...

You could always recess the board due to the case being quite large and just cut a slot in the mobo tray for the pci cards to go into.

Then just have extension cables coming out of the back.

Hmm, im starting to hope im outbidded on this case now:p

Im my own worst enemy with things like this, if its not going to be solid and not look like its just come out of Apple themselves (build-wise) ill be totally grossed out :p

Ill keep looking for any pictures of people who have done it, to see how its all fitted...

 they go for £100+ normally

Yup. You sometimes get lucky and find one that has been modded to take a PC mobo already. Just keep checking as they come up all the time. I thought about doing this mod for quite a bit but then couldnt think of a way to get the sodding great big apple engraving off the case side apart from a window. :) Also worth checking for cases from the US - they sell for less and sometimes u can ask for a cheaper shipping option that advertised in the auction.
