Hi i have recently had a pc problem and someone said on a forum said to pull the battery out of the mobo for a minute and take the pin out also,so i done that and now my pc wont come on.
I press the on button but there dont seem to be enough power to switch it on.Ive tried unplugging the cd-rom drive and floppy thinking that there is a problem with the psu and that it has too many things leeching power from it,and nothing it still wont come on.
So today i hoovered out the inside, and then switched the mobo pin to 2-3 from 1-2 and my pc came on but nothing came on the monitor,i then tried putting the pin back to 1-2 and nothing, the pc acted dead again.I then took the pin out and tried it with it out completely and it came on but nothing came on the monitor.
Does anyone out there have any idea what this could be?
thanks

Any beeps or anything? If it starts turning on but nothing appears, when the bios clear option is on, It suggests a faulty mobo to me, but I could be wrong.

Try taking the battery out, switching the bios clear switch to 2-3 again, and leave it for 10 mins (unplugged as well, so the bios loses any charge), then try replugging back in about 10-20 mins later and switching the bios clear back to 1-2.

Have you checked the PSU is supplying power?
Is the computer progressing to boot but without any image?
Is the RAM ok? Tried different stick
Video card ok?

You really need to fault find each component..if you've got no other components it's more difficult.

it is supplying power coz my mouse light is on.
the computer does sound as if its all booting up but i just get an error message on my monitor saying "monitor is working, please check computer" or something like that.
i aint got any other ram here to check.
I'll taje out my gfx card now and try that,i just thought that maybe i might have damaged the gfx card coz my hdd wasnt screwed into my pc it was just hanging there,so i might have banged it with the hard drive :/

Use a dual 7800GTX SLI setup to test, or a old PCI VGA trident video card.
Whatever is cheaper in case the cards get fried :-P

If it starts booting up, and you get a message saying monitor working but no picture, it may well be your gfx card is DOA. They're quite hard to damage, but they do come DOA sometimes. If you have ANY old gfx card, try that and see if it boots.
