Hey,

My room is pretty small, and I leave my computer on pretty much all hours for games, and for work so people can leave me messages.
It's the Antec 900, so it has 2 x 120mm fans at the front, a 120mm exhaust at the back and on the side and of course the 200mm fan ontop; all of them on low speed.
I also have the CPU Asus Silent square cooler (The fat orange square one). Now with all these fans, my room after a while gets really dry and really hot and I find it hard to sleep. Even if I leave the window open for a while, it's still the same problem unfortunatly.

Now i'm going to overclock my Q6600 from 2.4Ghz to 3.0Ghz, and I feel that turning my fans up higher is going to increase the problem.
1. Firstly does anyone else have this problem, or do you all live in mansions and have a study room for your computer? :P
2. I was thinking about taking the side fan off, and one of the fans from the front and just have 3 fans on my computer. With the overclock would I be risking heat issues?
3. Should I just do what I want and then just post up temperatures and then take it from there?

Thanks =]

I have an antec 900 case too, my Q6600 is at 3.6ghz. And yeah when its been on for a while the room does get quite toasty (22" samsung lcd monitor chucks out a fair wack too!)
But when my PC is on i generally open my windows up.

Aslong as your CPU temp is fairly sensable, a 3ghz overclock shouldn't be a problem (could possibly push it further too!) Though bare in mind, the more you overclock the more toasty your room is going to get :P

Erm.. my room is 2 meters x 2 meters. I have 2 x 4890s all running on air, you haven't felt heat until you have been in here.

Before I left for europe when it was 30c etc, my room was reaching 50 degrees by the end of the night... however at the moment it's been fairly nice only reaching 20-26c.

I just leave my big windows open 24/7, and the computer extracts all air out the back with 3 intakes from front + top.

If it's getting too hot, maybe leave your door open + window to increase the area of your room and dissipate more heat into your house, as well as pull air from the window through your room.

It doesnt matter how many fans you have. The same amount of heat will be produced. It might just be a bit cooler at the far side, and a bit hotter next to the pc.

i have a small midi-tower and my room is quite big but in the summer + the pc heat it really is bad and my parents complain about the heat when they come in. There isn't that much you can really do if your PC is on most hours of the day.

Buy an air conditioning unit?!

And the exhaust goes where? If you are gonna knock holes through the wall you might as well just exhaust the PC outside anyway!
Though personally, I love nothing better than to get the SDS drill out and knock holes anywhere I can :D

You could make some sort of tubeular contraption to exhaust from the rear to go to your window, could be a fun project, especially if you like knocking holes in your walls.
I was thinking something like this for my room, but a large tube going over the top of my room the the window on the other side got a bit hard to get a good airflow though.

You could go for a nice water cooling setup? I think that could benefit you? (I have never tried water cooled myself, just a guess :) )

Love it in winter. It can be freezing outside, my window's wide open and my rooms warm. I miss my 280gtx.

Summer is less good. Overclock suffers, fans run faster and make more noise, room gets hotter if I open the window rather than cooler. Not really sure what I can do about it though.

I too suffer from the same problem. My PC and brothers 360 kick out some serious heat and if we've both been gaming all day it feels like a sauna at night (well 35°). Brilliant for winter, hell in summer.
Best way of shifting the heat for me is to fully open the window and door of the room your PC is in and open some outside doors and/or windows around the house so you get decent airflow through the house and not just your PC case :P

I do have this same problem. My x1950 Crossfire PC kicks out some crazy heat and I don't overclock. Even in a room 16ft by 12ft. I usually only have it on when playing rFactor and thats usually a few hours at a time.

Thats even with 3 120mm fans. In a Lian Li PC-101.

The room has sometimes hit anywhere between 27 - 31c, mainly because it's somewhat muggy lately. Usually that room is at 24/25c.

don't forget it can help to 'tune' your fans which can make a difference - if you have more fans extracting form the back then the air input can take they will be fighting against a vacuum which will lower their efficency but i guess in return help the front to suck in more???

you might want a case with a higher pressure (dynamic rather than static.?..).....

either way the more warm air you get out of the case more effiecnt your pc will be and if you dump all the heat in your room it seconds as a heater (might even make your pc closer to being 100% thermally efficent as it is doubling as a heater for your room!!)

I noticed this recently with the antec twelve hundred case, put my hand near the top 200mm fan and was supprised at the amoutn of heat with the system idle
