my old pc turned itself off two days ago.... i took off the cooler and noticed that the silver paste had leaked under the cpu and into the socket ( AMD x2 6400)
it was on the underside of the cpu joining about 10 pins on the right hand side, i cleaned it off but had to flood and wash out the socket too, i dried with air compressor and left it 4 hours.... but was unable to remove the socket to see if there was still silver paste there
i reassembled and it gave me maybe 8 to 10 bleeps, too fast to count, it carried on for about 20 seconds and shut down immediately.... nothing on screen, i think both the mobo and cpu are screwed..... fans still work and the DVD drive does too
what do you think guys
