I'd like to get some additional viewpoints on an issue, i'm pretty confident i've got it all nailed, but second opinions are always helpful nonetheless.

Few months back the PC started to lose all power on shutdown (ie. the PSU wasn't going into a standby state and all mobo/gpu lights would go off) and i'd have to switch the PSU off at the back, leave it 1-3 mins then toggle it back on to get the system to power on.

Over this period the amount of time i'd have to go through this cycle to get the system on increased, not hugely but it has steadily taken a bit longer. Despite this, the system is solid once it's on and HWInfo reports voltages with no variance beyond normal operation (had it up on the second screen during gaming to watch for bigger shifts). For all intents and purposes the system is spot on and operating normally aside from this one issue with power.

Clearly a PSU problem so i got a Superflower Leadex ordered yesterday (the free delivery for long time membership is always appreciated, thx OCUK). In the mean time i'm running the system on an old Corsair CX i've borrowed from the old boy (it's his old one, and a spare for situations just like this). Naturally all my power on, shutdown issues have vanished (as one might hope), but oddly, since swapping them over when the system is powered on fresh in the morning the bios is now reporting it's reset and will continue to do so until i load a profile or save and exit. I've used an old profile, but also created a new one with barely any changes from stock bios, yet each day(it's only been 2 so far, it's happened both times) i start the PC i go through this cycle again. I do switch the PSU off at the back at night, because i don't trust the Corsair (it's old and doesn't make the trustiest of noise) and was switching off at night with the EVGA, but only after the power issues started (because i'd have to do that as part of the cycle to get the system on anyway).

It's only been on the Corsair supply 2 days, but current train of thought is, remove mobo battery, reseat and replace (i have spares) if bios issue persists, and await new PSU.

Anyone think i could be overlooking / missing something?

It's not unusual for switching the PSU (at the back) to trigger a reset, but trying a new battery makes sense, it is cheap and relatively easy.

Odd this never occured with the EVGA PSU if this was quite typical. Putting it down to the battery at this point, i'll reseat or replace(if needed, can pull one from another board) tomorrow if the issue persists.

I'll see what happens tomorrow(if it magically behaves i won't mind), easy enough to swap another in (few unused mobos in the cupboard). PSU has choked just inside the warranty(should end March 21), i don't fancy my chances on getting a replacement through warranty at any kind of hasty pace right now.

The leadex showed up today, stripped the system completely, deep cleaned everything, built it up on the desk barebones, tested the presumed faulty EVGA PSU (to see if there was any change), still shutdown and power on issues. Corsair PSU was still causing my bios settings to get lost when it was switched off at the back (with the original battery and a spare i tested yesterday). Put those both aside, fired up the system with the Leadex (no problems), then started connecting more things back up, switching it off at the back at each time. My bios stopped resetting and the system is nice and stable, all clean, all freshly rebuilt from the ground up, spot on again.
