I'd like to get some additional viewpoints on an issue, i'm pretty confident i've got it all nailed, but second opinions are always helpful nonetheless.
Few months back the PC started to lose all power on shutdown (ie. the PSU wasn't going into a standby state and all mobo/gpu lights would go off) and i'd have to switch the PSU off at the back, leave it 1-3 mins then toggle it back on to get the system to power on.
Over this period the amount of time i'd have to go through this cycle to get the system on increased, not hugely but it has steadily taken a bit longer. Despite this, the system is solid once it's on and HWInfo reports voltages with no variance beyond normal operation (had it up on the second screen during gaming to watch for bigger shifts). For all intents and purposes the system is spot on and operating normally aside from this one issue with power.
Clearly a PSU problem so i got a Superflower Leadex ordered yesterday (the free delivery for long time membership is always appreciated, thx OCUK). In the mean time i'm running the system on an old Corsair CX i've borrowed from the old boy (it's his old one, and a spare for situations just like this). Naturally all my power on, shutdown issues have vanished (as one might hope), but oddly, since swapping them over when the system is powered on fresh in the morning the bios is now reporting it's reset and will continue to do so until i load a profile or save and exit. I've used an old profile, but also created a new one with barely any changes from stock bios, yet each day(it's only been 2 so far, it's happened both times) i start the PC i go through this cycle again. I do switch the PSU off at the back at night, because i don't trust the Corsair (it's old and doesn't make the trustiest of noise) and was switching off at night with the EVGA, but only after the power issues started (because i'd have to do that as part of the cycle to get the system on anyway).
It's only been on the Corsair supply 2 days, but current train of thought is, remove mobo battery, reseat and replace (i have spares) if bios issue persists, and await new PSU.
Anyone think i could be overlooking / missing something?
