Hi i have an i7 920 1st generation 8gig 1366 ram 700w psu
asus rampage xtreme ii motherboard on original bios drivers
i was running previously a gtx470 and could run counterstrike at 300fps
on my 120hz 1080p screen
i then upgraded to a zotac 970 gtx omega edition and a 3440x1440 monitor
but also i have dropped it to 1920x1080 and it has not made any diference at lower resolutions
now the games are running so poor i have removed all drivers done clean install,
i have removed gcard and shifted it to a diferent pci slot
i have re installed win 10
and second hard drive on win 7
updated all drivers again but on both drives im only getting 130-50 fps it drops when the map gets busy,
so is there any tool i can use to check the gcard is working properly as i have no spares?
im all out of ideas as to why the games run such poor fps
unless its a bios issue but also with this board i have reset cmos
i cant see in the settings where to enable pcie?
so prehaps its running on onboard graphics and i want to know how do i check that aswell?
any help appreciated or any tools i can dload to see if its performing properly

ok i will download this tool run it and see what i get,
dumb question but how do i update a bios on a asus rampage xtreme ii?
i have no clue how to do it
:E
and how do i check in my bios to disable onboard graphics?
i though that could be an issue but not sure where to find it
i have had alook around but cant find the onboard graphics option?

Download Unigene heaven vally benxhmarl and run that, You should see the graphics card it's using at the top of the screen and at what speeds and what the temps are.

Do this first and report back before going too In depth.

hi also im trying to run heaven benchmark with win 10
and im not getting an error the programme cant start because MSVCP100.dll is missing form your computer. try reinstalling

Yeah there are tools called benchmarks, you can download them free and run it and it will give you an idea of what sort of score you should be getting.

3Dmark Firestrike is a good one, it brings up a webpage after its ran and compares your results with others.

Or you could try something like Unigine Heaven and then compare it against other peoples score on the forum here https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18487976

Firestrike tests your CPU also so you dont wanna worry about the overall score it gives you just the GFX score.

edit: wow 4 other people posted in the time it took me to read your post and write this lol

Do you have a utility / bundled ASUS software with that board which can check the BIOS?
Can it run a search to see if there is an update?

But first just run the benchmark, the board is so old it may never support it properly and its a risk updating the BIOS. (if this is the problem)

This is your board, but rather worryingly i could not find any software support for it. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_II_EXTREME/ I had one on an AMD platform many many many years ago....

Asus are notorious for quitting all support for EOL products.

Run the Unigine Heaven benchmark before you go further.

i also cant find a bios update driver for win 10 for this motherboard
only drivers available are win 8.1 x64
would that work ok with win 10 x 64?

Windows 8/8.1 drivers should work with windows 10, yes.

Run the benchmark i linked before you think about the BIOS please :)

ok ill run futuremark once it downloads and check the settings
win 10 is fully updated i have latest dx and i have the latest nvidia drivers

only thing i did notice it did not run the tests in full 3440x1440 resolution on my x34 predator monitor

It defaults to 1080p so that's normal.

Not sure why csgo has bad performance as you firestrike scores look ok.

It might be a csgo config problem or vsync problem.

Can you overclock your CPU (it not already) at all ?

When the CSGO 'gloves' update came out I noticed a hefty fps drop on my backup PC (which I was using as main at the time). It had one of my 970s in it and the chip was a stock 1366 Xeon (~3.06GHz Turbo). Dota 2 performance was also laughably bad (30 fps when there is a lot going on!)

I'm not sure if the CSGO update was a red herring but had been fine before that - I guess I could give it a test tonight when I get home...

just been playing csgo and I get over 100fps with my setup and my cpu is pants lol I have a 970 as well

ok i still have same issues it seems with steam games and the fps dropping from 140-50fps
now only thing i can see is in my task manager my old crucial ssd h drive is ramping up to 100% then dropping down
seems odd but it is the only thing i can notice strange atm.
i did check bios it is set but i dont think this would cause fps issues?
