Hi yes so if I create a server like dust bowl as soon as it loads with the bots and the map gets busy the dos dip from over 130fps to 40fps

And this same pic I used to have a gtx 470 and with 1080p 120hz panel it would hit 300fps with no issues
Now it's not even close..
Just a different monitor but even if I run counter strike or team fortress it won't do more then 1040 fps
Vsync off vsync off
Fixed refresh
Can't work it out ...:)

that does seem strange,i get over 100fps in csgo with everything maxed with my setup although I havnt tried team fortress yet as only got my 970 yesterday, you should be getting over 100fps constant on cs

hopefully someone with better knowledge of pcs can help,is it every steam game where fps goes low? have you tried any games from origin etc? although would be weird if only steam games have this problem

I don't think it needs over clocking
My reasoning for this is my 470gtx with non over clocked cpu could easily push 300fps at 1080p...

It does

A GTX 970 is several times faster than a 470.

What is important is the quality of the fps not the number.

300fps @1080p is not much use if the minimums and maximums are all over the place. This is something that can be made worse with a low clockspeed on the CPU.

You should also be using game settings that keep the fps down to a reasonable level.
