So At work at the moment looking for ideas on why this server is going wrong

the last few days it was just rebooting itself
Event Viewer says
"rebooted unexpectedly"
Changed the PSU

Now the PC latches up with the clock stuck on the time it latched up Mouse/Keyboard do not work
event viewer has no mention of it &
it also latched up on a Windows install CD overnight. ( not doing anything just left it outside windows for 24 hours)

Specfication
i5 2.8ghz (stock)
4GB DDR3 1333mhz
1TB samsung F1
Nvidia 550TI
2 AV cards
CX600 Cosair PSU

Things tested:
Prime95 - 24 hour - fine cpu/ram test
HDDtune Error scan - fine
New PSU - changed issue?
GPU drivers updated to latest
Memtest86+ - running but fine

but soon as we leave it doing nothing or very light task it latches up?

im thinking possibly power management?

testing it at the moment but passed The first run of 9? tests after 44minutes

will test overnight :)

its weird that light things latch it up, unless the GPU is going to sleep but not waking up when we ask it?, but then the clock should still update :(

As chocolate said first, Random restarts can point your straight to ram. Working as a IT techie I would advise a few rounds of memtest. And also try stressing your pc while keeping an eye on temperatures. Other then that I would find another harddrive and swap them out just to make sure its not the problem.

Let us know how it goes, Fingers crossed the problem will show its face, otherwise your in for another round of testing =P

its working fine (didnt change the HDD) however the server rack it was hosted on screen died today so maybe it was the screen latching up? after all.

it been idle FOR 6 hours & running heaven benchmark over and over and iits fine. odd but :)

No but seriously, I'm glad everything is running smooth again!

ok an update,

ON my desk using VGA it lasted 2 days. on the rack it lasted 1 day through DVI

Retryed VGA same thing.

the weird thing is when its "latched Up" you press the power button on the front & shuts down nicely. however the Mouse/keyboard & clock still do not work.

I have even tryed & reinstall of windows, Next to test is the HDD but seems unlikely if its shutting down correctly...

though on 2nd thoughts it does take a while to shutdown!
