Hi there guys & gals,

Spec:

E6600
P5B Deluxe
2GB Cellshock PC6400

K, I had O/C'ed and had a stable o/c with:

FSB @ 495, Ram 1:1 @ 990mhz 5-5-5-15 and CPU @ 2.98 (495x6)

This all worked fine for a few weeks, no problems what so ever. Yesterday I brought the PC out of hibernation (In Vista) and I had no internet etc... tried resetting the network adapter but it didn't do anything. Reset the PC and it didn't boot.

Turned the power off at the PSU and then back on after 10 secs (should reset the bios and lower the O/C) It DIDN'T lower the O/C but did boot.

I went in and lowered the o/c to FSB @ 345, ram 1030 @ 5-5-5-15 and cpu at 345x8 (2.8)

It hasn't booted since:confused:

I know that 345 is 100% stable as I have had it on this before and it was 100% fine.

Question is this, with RAM out of the PC is beeps etc saying no RAM, when RAM is put back in it won't beep or anything. The automatic lowering of the O/C won't lower it.

I have had my GFX card out and removed the battery and left the cord out of the PSU overnight and still nothing, no beeps no nothing!

Anybody else had this? Would it be the Mobo or RAM if something has gone? Or is it just the mobo being a bit gay? (it has done this before but leaving it overnight fixed it last time, that was due to an O/C)

Any help most welcome!

Cheers!

Reset the BIOS first.

If that doesnt work, unplug all the power cables then reconnect the motherborad power to see if you cost get it to post.

To reset the BIOS I revmove the battery?

If so I have done this overnight with all power cables unplugged.

Should I remove GFX card, RAM CPU etc and then test mobo by itself?

Cheers for replying!

Edit: Just took RAM out to give the beeps. IT goes:

Long beep, two short beeps

With the RAM in it does nothing, just switches on and sits there with no screen and no beeps.

Doesn't matter if both sticks are in or not.

It has done this before (no beeps etc) but leaving it overnight fixed it last time..

Cheers again!

There should be either a jumper next to the onboard battery or a terminal that you short out to reset it.

For now leave everything in the motherboard, just disconnect all the other power cables. I've seen many false earth after a random 'fatality'.

I had forgotten about the CMOS CLR jumper!

I have tried doing this with the battery in and leaving the jumper on pins 2-3 for over a min then replacing it on pins 1-2 but I still have the same problem....

If my RAM was bust would it still POST and beep?

It's doing my head in now though, all fans, HDD's and DVD-Rom drives start up but nothing else works.

I have tried it now with everything removed bar the CPU, but it's the same as before. Doesn't matter what I remove from the PC it will not beep at all until the RAM is removed.

Any help most welcome!

Cheers!

This may sound like a silly answer, But I believe i get a similiar problem every now and then and i put it down to my gfx card being about to die. Thats why i dont get anything on the screen.

I may be waaaay off the mark but is it booting but you dont have any output to the monitor

Hi there again,

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you but have to find a computer to go on!

Mine is still not working after everything I have tried.

I left the PC unplugged overnight and have left it for over half an hour with CMOS CLR on pins 2-3 and still the same thing.

Surely if my RAM was bust it would still post but beep giving me a hardware failure? If it was my mobo then surely it wouldn't POST and beep with no RAM in it?

I have no other RAM I can test but is it really worth me trying it?

If it is my RAM can I RMA it as it is less than a year old and shouldn't break this quick surely?

Any light shed on this would be excellent!

Cheers!

Nah, I have taken my GFX card out (to get the battery) and I did try starting it with no GFX card (should get an error beep or something?) but it still did nothing... that's with the RAM in.

Cheers anywho!
