Hi all

I was happily playing BF4 on my rig tonight, and mid game, the PC powered off but the case fans continued to run? If I try and switch on, only the case fans will power up, the case power LEDs don't light up nor the cpu fan. Looking in the case the mobo led is on, everything is pushed in etc. The mobo, cpu, memory, psu are 3 yrs old, and have been stable and 100% reliable since new. The only change I have made was from a 290x to 2x 970's 1 week ago, and used it for around 10 hrs since installing the new gpu's. The other specs are:

Asus P8p67 pro mobo
i5 overclocked to 4.7ghz for the past 3 yrs totally stable
Corsair hx1000 psu

I think it's the psu, but would the mobo LEDs still light and it was quite hot when I opened the case (Antec P182). Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Had this problem with my abit ix38 quad gt.

For that board a comes reset stopped working eventually and I had to reset the cmos but when you do it remove the mobo power cables and remove the battery.

Problem I had was this became more frequent and worse every time until finally the mobo died just recently.

Just tried my sons Seasonic M12 II 620w psu and my PC powered up all ok.... So looks like my Corsair hx1000w has died. So, what's a good psu nowadays?

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic S12G-750 750W '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply £96.95
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £84.95
1 x SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - White £84.95
1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £79.99
Total : £356.44 (includes shipping : £8.00).

All quality. I'd just get the EVGA G2 as it's cheaper right now, and has 10 year warranty. The Seasonic is a bit expensive and isn't modular.

I would just RMA that back to Corsair, that PSU should have been more than enough to run almost two of your computers at once. It has a five year warranty.

Thing is I brought it in August 2008, so way out of the 5yr warranty. Anyway, I installed a Seasonic M12 II 850w tonight, all powered up ok however I got a Bootmgr missing error, took 2 attempts with Win7 repair to fix it. Looks like the old psu failure during gaming damaged the boot sector on the SSD!
