Hi there

i have to go look at a friends pc and was just thinking of what could the problem be?

he tells me when he goes to play a game or even just randomly it will shut down like someone just pulled the plug on it

I believe it could be the PSU but not 100% sure could someone offer anything to check when i get my hands on it?

the specs are

500w tagen psu
Q6600 @ stock
4gb ram
8800GT
ASUS P5N-E SLI

thanks again

Could well be the extra power draw of the GPU if the PSU is on its way out. Could also be heat. What temps are you getting ?

Run Furmark. It will put loads of stress on the GPU and monitors the temperatures.

This will allow you to eliminate a GPU cooling issue.

Will you be able to bring a known working PSU with you to test if it is the PSU that is causing the problem?

i shall check all of them when i get my hands on it because he likes to think he knows everything about PC's but he don't

thanks guys i shall update when i see it next week sometime

cmndr_andi: no i dont have a spare psu to test :(
