pc keeps blowing fuse

right, i had a dud psu, came with 5 amp fuse. first tried to power the pc on, the fuse popped.. put another 5amp fuse in and that popped. put a 13a fuse in and then tried it, the bench tripped.

so lesson learned, i returned the psu, they tested it in the shop and then guy come out with soot marks over his face, so i ask him "whats up with the psu?" he says: "dunno it just blew up in my face".

got a new psu and it worked fine with its original 5a fuse.
psu in question was a hiper 525w.

so i advise you not to use a 13a fuse, no psu other than the 1kw units would require that much current to work normally. if its popping fuses its doing it for a reason.

4 amp fuse instead of a 15. OF COURSE IS GONNA BLOW!!!!

Its also highly dangerous as well
On the contrary - it'd be pretty damn irresponsible to use a 13a fuse when a 5a fuse is what's necessary.

As already said, no PC equipment should have a 13a fuse. That means it'd draw ~3kW before blowing. 5a is a more sensible ~1kW.

Got a 13amp cable with my Tagan 580w...is it much of a problem then?

Shouldn't of, the 13a scale is mainly aimed at the more powerful appliances like heating, sunbeds and magical devices that turn water into wine.

*EDIT* - It was Jeues that did that.
