As you may no from my other thread, my pc keeps freezing however the past few times when playing counter strike source it has let me play stable for 5minutes or so with a usual fps and everything else, then the pc has gone to a blue screen then shut down (the blue screen has writing but it goes so fast i cant read it)
spec is as follows:
E6600
ASUS P5L MOBO
2GB O.C.Z 6400 RAM
XPERT VISION 7950GT 512MB
THERMALTAKE CASE
COLOURS PSU 500W

Thats all i guess you ll need to know, i hope someone will be able to see something wrong here, getting depserate and i am ****** off and i shouldnt be not on xmas eve no one should, doesnt even feel like xmas eve to me
Gah anyways

.

Hrm yeah, reverse any overclocks you might have done... also you wanna check your temperatures. You could also try testing your RAM for errors, if you get errors, remove one stick, test it, then do the same with the other stick.

Also, COLOURS-IT PSU's are dodgy... could be something to do with that. I had one, seriously worth the upgrade to a decent PSU :)

yer right i have done NO overclockers to it, had no time, but was confuses me is i got my pc yesterday and it was beatuiful i was soo chuffed uploaded css was amazing, no lag or anything no freezes glitches, then turn it on this morning and crashes everytime i play,
I was thinking perhaps the vga is getting too warm and overheating, would this cause my pc to freeze when not playing css also,
My grapchis cards temp is 39-41, i looked on xpert vision some thing to show me my settings, and it shows my fan speed percentages it shows one fan is only on 75% should i up it to 100%
it shows 2d: speed 75% 3d speed:100
Probably doesnt make a difference but still.

Go here and if you want to have a bootable CD for memtest download the pre compiled ISO and burn the image to the cd, if you want to just shove it on a USB stick then get the pre compiled EXE file for USB Key, run it to your USB stick and then boot from it.

I used the ISO one when I had ram trouble, only because the USB one didn't exist.

And a bsod like that does sound like ram trouble.

Right gosh i am such a noob, i ve opened it then moved file to my pen drive then tried to boot it up it comes up with notepad and a black screen inside ntoepad then really quickyl disappears?
What do i do, lol i am stupid iknow
Will.

I've only used the CD version so I have no idea, I think your best bet would be to either look around and find out how to do it or just use the floppy/cd version which are guaranteed no trouble at all.

To 'boot' from the USB key you need to switch off the PC and restart. You should not attempt to run the program from inside windows.

Resart your PC.
Go into the BIOS and change the boot priority to USB.
Then Save and Exit.
The PC will then reboot again and treat the USB key as the boot source. It will then present you with the memtest options.

After that - when you restart just enter the BIOS again and restore the previous boot priority.
